Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has moved Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the misuse of public money by PML-N’s Punjab government through its media advertisements in sheer violation of the ECP’s set code of conduct.
A PTI leader, , in a letter sent to Secretary ECP, Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan, on Saturday pleaded that the ECP’s directions were being blatantly violated by the Punjab government of the PML-N as an advertisement claiming that Shahbaz Sharif had saved resources of the Punjab government in solid waste management project.
Terming the advertisement a violation of ECP code of conduct, Khakwani said that it was a bid by the PML-N’s Punjab government to get political mileage on the taxpayers’ money.
The PTI leader added that it had been proved once again that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was misusing public money for his personal publicity which was a clear violation of the ECP’s rules.
It was said that as the ECP has instructed categorically all the political parties not to use public money for their publicity.
“You are requested to take immediate action against the parties violating the ECP direct, we shall be obliged if you could kindly intimate the action taken in this regard,” the PTI leader added.
