Lahore: A delegation of Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), headed by its President Abid Saqi Advocate, called on Pakistan Muslim League senior central leader and Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi at his residence here today.
Delegation included Vice-President Ch Ghulam Sarwar Nehang, Secretary General M. Baleeghuzzanman Chaudhary, Finance Secretary Usman Sher Gondal and Aamer Saeed Raan advocate among others.
Talking to the members of the delegation Ch Parvez Elahi said that the role of the lawyers’ community in the strengthening of independent judiciary and democracy has been very important. He said as the Punjab Chief Minister, he had established the institution of the Prosecutor General for quick dispensation of justice in the province, appointed Public Defenders, set up Consumers Courts, provided free medical facilities to the lawyers community without any discrimination, established Lawyers Housing Colony for solving the residential problems of the lawyers. Our govt launched and completed large number of welfare projects for people from all walks of life including the lawyers, he added.
LHCBA President Abid Saqi highly appreciated the welfare works of Ch Parvez Elahi undertaken for well-being of the lawyers’ community for which they are thankful to him and have today come to express gratitude for extending them full support in the elections of the LHC Bar.
Apprising the Deputy Prime Minister about the problems of the lawyers, Abid Saqi said the lawyers’ community will not allow democracy to be derailed, for strengthening of democracy and upholding supremacy of the Constitution and law, lawyers will always support democratic forces. He also invited Ch Parvez Elahi to address LHC Bar at a convenient time.
