Lahore: Leader of Pakistan Muslim League-N and Member National Assembly Hamza Shahbaz Sharif has said that all minorities living in Pakistan are Pakistani and they have equal rights over Pakistan. He said that all Pakistanis are ashamed of such incidents in the comity of nations. He said that promotion of religious harmony and tolerance is need of the hour and it will only be possible through provision of justice without any discrimination. He said that our religion gives us lesson of tolerance and patience. Hamza Shabaz said that minorities have equal rights to lead their life according to their religions. He said that PML-N does not believe in lip-service and distribution of cheques of financial assistance among affectees of Badami Bagh incident is proof of this fact that it equally shares the grief of its Christian brethren.
He expressed these views while distributing cheques among the affectees at Town Hall here today. Senator, Pervaiz Rashid, MNA Pervez Malik, Provincial Minister Mujtaba Shujar ur Rehman, MPA Malik Riaz, Senator Kamran Michael, President National Council of Churches Pakistan, Azad Marshal and DCO Lahore Noorul Ameen Mengal were also present on the occasion. Hamza Shahbaz said that more than 150 persons have been arrested and the persons responsible will be awarded deterrent punishment.
Addressing on the occasion, Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that it was desire of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif that the affectees should be provided help without any loss of time so that they could lead their life with satisfaction. He said that Chief Minister Punjab had made three promises with the affectees of Badami Bagh incident which included arrest of the accused, reconstruction of houses and financial assistance to each affected family. He said that arrests have been made, construction of houses has been started and financial assistance is being provided to each family through distribution of cheques.
Later, Hamza Shahbaz distributed cheques among affectees of Badami Bagh incident. DCO Lahore Noorul Ameen Mengal said that the affectees who did not receive cheques will receive these cheques from the office set up at Badami Bagh on Monday. He said that City District Government Lahore has also established a helpdesk at Town Hall which will help those affectees who do not have their bank account. He said that the persons available at helpdesk will arrange opening of their bank accounts.
