Lahore: Secretary Social Welfare and Baitul Mal Punjab, Malik Tahir Sarfaraz Awan has said that the government has always encouraged women participation in national development so that they could play their role side by side men.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of 3-day provincial art and craft exhibition at Qasr-e-Behbood Model Town arranged by Social Welfare Department. The products prepared by cottage industry of more than 34 districts and students of NGOs have been displayed in the exhibition. Director General Social Welfare Malik Aslam, Director Programmes Hafiz Akram, District Officer Sheikh Ahmad, Incharge Qasr-e-Behbood and others were present on the occasion.
Secretary Social Welfare said that this exhibition is held every year where awareness is provided regarding products prepared by cottage industry from all over the province. Malik Tahir Sarfaraz Awan appreciated the quality of products displayed in the exhibition and said that besides popularity of these products in the local market these are also demanded abroad. He said that skilled persons can earn their livelihood by getting technical education being imparted in these institutions established by Social Welfare Department.
