Dr. Abdul Rahman Khawaja awarded is the degree of Master of Philosophy

Lahore: Dr. Abdul Rahman Khawaja s/o Khawaja Muhammad Siddique was awarded the degree of Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in Biostatistics by National College of Business Administration and Economics (NCBA & E) Lahore. The title of his thesis is “Quality of life and Psychiatric Morbidity in Patients of Psoriasis”

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease with psychosocial implications. Due to lack of awareness among common people the patients of psoriasis suffer and this impairs the quality of life which in turn affects the psychology of the patient leading to psychiatric illness. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hanif Professor of Statistics at NCBA & E supervised this research where as Prof. Dr. Syed Azam Bukhari Professor of Dermatology Services Institute of Medical Sciences and Dr. Muhammad Jaffarany Professor State University of Michigan U.S.A were technical supervisors.

Dr. Abdul Rahman Khawaja did MBBS from Allama Iqbal Medical College in 1982. After doing Diploma in Dermatology from International Institute of Dermatology Bangkok, Thailand, he joined Ummul Qura General Hospital Makkah Mukkurama as a dermatologist. During his five years stay he developed interest in medical research. He did MPH in Research Methodology from University of Malaya Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. He was given the task of organizing research cell in Mayo Hospital Lahore as Deputy Medical Superintendent Research, where he helped university students from all over Pakistan interested in medical and health research. He has been teaching research to medical doctors and biostatisticians in Punjab University and King Edward Medical University during years 2005-2009.
