Lahore: A spokesman of Health Department Punjab has said that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology would be started with a 50-bed in the first phase and later it would be extended to 200 beds. The spokesman clarified that this Institute is not being converted into a general hospital.
According to the spokesman, the Punjab government has released Rs.20 crore for making functional first two flours of Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology, out of which, 140 million rupees have been provided for completion of building while Rs.60 million for medical equipment. The spokesman said that Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology would be the sub campus of Punjab Institute of Cardiology Lahore and its administration had started the process of recruitment but due to ban imposed by election commission on new recruitments, this process has been stopped temporarily. The spokesman further said that Punjab Chief Minister has directed to make Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology functional soon and in the light of his directions the process of making WIC functional, has also been expedited-up
