Measles is a vaccine preventable disease: Prof. Dr. Maaz Ahmed

Lahore: Measles is a vaccine preventable disease and in Pakistan in this pre-spring season incidence of about 3000 cases is a reflection that primary vaccination program of EPI has certain weaknesses which needs redressal and eradication. Rich fatty diet, high protein content & Vitamin A supplementation can check mortality due to measles. Two doze strategy of measles vaccine, improved sanitary conditions & prevention of mal nutrition can save children from measles.

This was expressed by Dean Institute of Public Health Prof. Dr. Maaz Ahmed in a public awareness seminar against measles which was held at Institute of Public Health today. Prof. Dr. Shahid, Prof. Dr. Rubina, Prof. Dr. Rabia & Dr. Ujala also delivered expert lectures. Representatives of Civil Society, Parents of the children and students participated in the seminar.
