Shahbaz Sharif vows to further improve citizen feedback model

CM PUNJAB-2Lahore:Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that special attention is being paid to good governance, transparency and provision of better services to the masses. He said that citizens’ feedback model has yielded positive results regarding the achievement of the targets of good governance and improving the efficiency of government departments. He directed that this glorious programme should be furthered in a coordinated manner and provided complete support. He said that citizens’ feedback model is helping in improving the efficiency of government institutions which will restore the confidence of the people.

He was presiding over a review meeting regarding citizens’ feedback model at Model Town, here today. Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), acting Inspector General Police, provincial secretaries, World Bank representatives and concerned officers were present. Commissioner Sahiwal Nabeel Awana and Chairman PITB Dr. Omar Saif gave a briefing regarding the project. Addressing the meeting the Chief Minister said that citizens’ feedback model is the best source of receiving public feedback regarding government departments and is a very important programme due to its nature. He said that public feedback is important toward improving the efficiency of government departments as well as restoring the confidence of the people in government institutions. He said that promotion of public awareness regarding citizens’ feedback model is of vital importance so that they could fully benefit from this programme. He said that there should also be an effective system of monitoring of citizens’ feedback model. He said while this programme will benefit the common man it will also convey a message to the government officials that their performance is being checked.

Commissioner Sahiwal Division Nabeel Awan while giving a briefing regarding citizens’ feedback model that it was started as a pilot project one year ago and now its scope has been expanded. He said that 1357000 citizens who availed the services of police, health, revenue, education and other departments were contacted. He said that more than six lakh citizens have appreciated this programme. Chairman PITB informed that people are fully expressing their views regarding citizens’ feedback model and terming it a very useful for elimination of corruption and malpractices. The participants of the meeting also gave their proposals for further improving this programme.
