Young Doctors hunger strike is totally unjustified:Khawaja Salman

Lahore: Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the hunger strike of young doctors is totally unjustified and they cannot shirk their responsibilities in this manner.

In a statement, Khawaja-Salman-Rafique said that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has increased the budget for development of health sector from Rs. 10 billion to Rs. 50 billion during the last five years. He said that pay package and service structure of five billion rupees has been given to young doctors while services of more than four thousand young doctors have been regularized which is unprecedented. He said that government is still ready to negotiate with young doctors but they will have to remove such elements as torture their teachers and media-men, from their ranks. He said that instead of setting up strike camps like trade unionist young doctors should pay attention to treatment of poor patients coming to hospitals as is demand of their profession.
