Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the key of future of Pakistan is in the hands of youth. He said that the amount of billions of rupees for laptops and Ujala Programmes is not expenses but it is useful investment on the youth. He said that we started programmes for empowering youth while those raising slogans for them were visiting abroad. He said had dacoities of billions of rupees were not committed in Pakistan, every student would have been got laptop today. He said that a war will be waged through Ujala Programme against the darkness spread by Zardari.
He was addressing a ceremony of distribution of laptops among talented students at Jinnah Convention Center, Islamabad, today. Advisors Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, Members National Assembly Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Hanif Abbasi, heads of educational institution, teachers and a large number of students were present on the occasion. More than seven thousand laptops were distributed among intelligent students of colleges and universities of Rawalpindi Division and federally administered area Islamabad. A smart contingent of police presented guard of honor to the talented students.
Addressing the ceremony, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that the sons and daughters of the nation are equal to him and he feels pleasure at his or her success. He said that wherever laptops have been distributed in educational institutions in the province, the girls have taken lead over boys but in Islamabad the situation was different. He said that if anyone proves even a penny of corruption in the programme started for the social development and promotion of education in Punjab, he will be accountable before Almighty Allah and the people. He said that the distribution of laptops is continuing purely on the basis of merit, ability and hard work and this programme is being followed in a most transparent manner. The Chief Minister pointed out that he has no quota or discretionary power in the programme of distribution of laptops and he has no authority to give even one laptop to any student. He said that 8,500 laptops have been distributed among the students of colleges and universities of Rawalpindi division and Islamabad including the laptops distributed at Fatima Jinnah Women University Rawalpindi today. He said that last year the students of colleges and universities of Islamabad were not included in the programme of distribution of laptops but this year these students have also been given laptops.
The Chief Minister said that one kilometer away from Convention Center, billions and trillions of rupees are being plundered in the bungalows situated in mountains and big offices. He said had national wealth not been looted and corruption not been rampant, the country would not have been facing darkness, industries not been closed and there would have been no poverty and unemployment. He said that the programmes for the welfare of youth and social development have been started on the basis of need and merit in Punjab. He said that today the country is facing numerous problems and not the democracy but those operating the system are responsible. He reiterated that the country would be rid of all problems under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif. The Chief Minister said that the mega projects and development programmes executed by Punjab government of PML-N are unprecedented. He said that dictators and democratic governments have disappointed the people during last 65 years and it is high time that the Pakistani nation and youth should elect such a leadership through the power of vote which had the ability of putting the country on the road to progress and prosperity.
At the end of the function, the Chief Minister distributed laptops among talented male and female students. A female student of Fatima Jinnah University in her speech paid rich tributes to the Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on his efforts and steps taken for promotion of education.
