Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, will distribute laptops among 8 thousand and 5 hundred talented girl and boy students from colleges and universities of Rawalpindi division and Islamabad Capital Territory on Monday, Feb. 04, 2013.
Chief Minister will also visit Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology and will preside a briefing session there. Two functions for distribution of laptops will be held, one in Fatima Jinnah Women university Rawalpindi and other in Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad. He will give away laptops to girl students of Fatima Jinnah Women University at a graceful function to be held in the premises of the university. The second function for the distribution of laptops will be held in Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad on the same day and Chief Minister would distribute laptops among the students of colleges and universities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi division. It may be recalled that Punjab government distributed one lakh, 25 thousand laptops during last fiscal year and during the current fiscal year, the government will also distribute laptops in the same number. The laptop scheme of the Punjab government has been appreciated as a tremendous step for promotion of education and Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has also lauded the efforts of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in this respect. On account of its popularity, the students of other provinces also desire that their governments should also distribute laptops among students following the footsteps of government of Punjab.
Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will also visit Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology and will preside a briefing session there in detail. The RIC is an institution for patients of cardiac diseases having state of art facilities of treatment. This hospital is a very significant addition in health facilities being provided by the Punjab government to Pindi’ites and people from KPK, Gilgit Baltistan and AJK would also benefit from this hospital as prior to this, there was only one hospital in Rawalpindi division for cardiac diseases i.e. Armed Forces institute of Cardiology. This hospital has been completed with a cost of about Rs. 2.6 billion. It is worth mentioning that Punjab government has initiated unprecedented mega projects in Rawalpindi during last four and a half years including flyovers at Chandani Chowk and 6th Road Chowk on Murree road which have been completed with a total amount of Rs. 2.4 billion. The mega projects of widening plus flyover at Pir Wadhai More, widening of Chur Chowk and Institute of Urology are under construction and the work on these mega projects is speedily in progress.
