Lahore: PML-N leader Senator Tariq Azeem said on Friday that the ECP’s decision to ban jobs and suspend development funds ahead of elections is not interference in government’s affairs.
Terming Public Accounts Committee Chairman (PAC) Nadeem Afzal Gondal’s criticism of ECP baseless, the PML-N leader said the Election Commission was constitutionally obliged to ban jobs and suspend funds near elections.
He/she blamed the PPP-led government for doing nothing for the welfare of people in the last five years, adding, “Have they released it now that they should spend funds on development projects?”
Senator Tariq Azeem said the government wants funds as it intends to mint money in form of commission.
“The PPP also wants to sell jobs before elections. This is what the party has been doing in the past,” he said.
