Lahore: In order to control measles disease, further augmenting surveillance and case reporting and timely case response, the officers of Health Department have to utilize their professional capabilities and work day and night in this regard.
This was stated by while presiding over of follow-up meeting after Chief Secretary held at the committee room of Health Department regarding controlling spread of measles in the province. The meeting was attended by Addl. Secretary Health (Establishment) Asfand Yar Khan, Addl. DG Health (Vector Born Diseases), Dr. Jafar Ilyas, EDO (Health) Dr. Inam ul Haq, Provincial Coordinator Lady Health Workers Programme Dr. Akhtar Rashid Malik, Addl. Director Health (Headquarters) Dr. Atiq ur Rehman, Dr. Salman Shahid and others. EDO Health Dr. Inam ul Haq gave a detailed briefing on measles situation prevailing in Lahore. Special Secretary directed further improving (EPI) programme for children, removing deficiencies in routine immunization, improving case response in areas with measles disease is reported and making Mopup campaign even more effective. He directed health officers to ensure implementation of decisions taken in the Commissioner’s conference held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Punjab, yesterday, regarding controlling spread of measles. He said surveillance and case reporting should be further strengthened in order to chalk out complete data of children affected by these diseases. Special Secretary also directed ensuring special steps for medical care of measles patients in all government hospitals of the province.
