MBP opponents will soon become silent:Shahbaz Sharif

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that those who remain silent over the provision of facilities to the elite and raise hue and cry at the projects for providing relief to the common man have no sympathy with the poor people, therefore, they looted the national resources ruthlessly in the name of development projects during their tenure. He said that PML-N government by implementing its manifesto has completed development projects worth billions of rupees throughout the province expeditiously for providing best facilities to the people. He said that the historic public welfare project of metro bus service, is a glorious example of service to the masses and expressed the hope that this project will be completed during this month. He said that the opponents will become silent at the provision of facilities to the common man through metro buses.

He was presiding over the second meeting of Punjab Metro Bus Authority (PMBA), here today. Chairman Lahore Transport Company Kh. Ahmad Hassan, Advisor Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretaries Finance and Transport, Managing Director Metro Bus Authority and officers concerned attended the meeting. The meeting gave approval in principle to the budget of Metro Bus Authority and also reviewed in detail administrative and other matters of the authority.

Addressing the meeting, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that Punjab government has adopted a concrete strategy for provision of best transport facilities to the people and transport system is being organized on modern lines. He said that after the completion of this splendid project of metro bus service, best, comfortable and safe travelling facilities would be available to the people. The Chief Minister said that metro bus project is unique in respect of transparency, quality and speed. He disclosed that this excellent project of metro bus service is in the final stages of completion and the temporary problems of the masses will soon convert into permanent relief. He said that for the first time in the history of the country, modern terminals, e-ticketing system and automatic escalators are being installed on metro bus project for the convenience of the masses and the fare of metro bus will be within the reach of the common man. He said that Punjab government is writing a history by completing the historic metro bus project in a record period by working round the clock and after completion of this project the transport culture and the lifestyle will totally change. Shahbaz Sharif disclosed that the splendid and unique metro bus project in the transport history of the country will be completed during this month and best traveling facilities to the masses will be available. He said that an agreement with Lahore Solid Waste Company has also been signed for the cleanliness of the metro bus route. The Chief Minister said that Punjab government is spending resources on the provision of facilities to the poor as they have equal right on the resources. Earlier, Managing Director Metro Bus Authority gave a detailed briefing about administrative, financial and other matters. The meeting also reviewed the progress on metro bus project.
