Lahore:The police will provide complete security to Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s Long March on January 14. The decision to this effect was taken during a high-level meeting presided over by Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Khan Baig at the Central Police Office (CPO) today. During the meeting, the strategy was finalized to provide security cover to the Long March of Tahir-ul-Qadri. DIG (Operations) Punjab Sohail Ahmed Khan has been nominated as Coordinator to ensure and supervise the security arrangements for the Long March. However, Inspector Zeegham on behalf of Elite Police Force will remain in touch with the police of different districts to ensure security related coordination from the start to the end of the March.
The Elite Police Force will escort the convoy of Tahir-ul-Qadri from Lahore while additional police would also be deployed on the sensitive parts of the route.
Similarly, the police of concerned district will provide security cover to the Long March in their respective region as per the plan given by Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri.
A control room has also been established in the CPO, where a team of senior police officers would monitor the security of the Long March properly and effectively.
