Pakistan becomes Asian champion in Hockey

Lahore: Pakistan has become the Asian champions after defeating arch rivals India by 5-4 in a tough contested final ,played in Doha on Thursday.Waqas Sharif scored two goals while Muhammad Rashid, Shafqat Rasool and Muhammad Imran netted one goal each in the sensational final.
Pakistan made the first breakthrough against the defending champions when Waqas Sharif, scored goal but India came back within minutes to equal the score and succeeded in taking a 2-1 lead by the end of the first half.
The second half proved much eventful as both teams made goals one by one and overall six goals were scored during this half.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has congratulated Pakistani Hockey Team on winning the final of Asian Championship. He said that National Hockey Team, by winning Asian Championship, has held the head of the nation high. He said that all the players gave excellent performance and defeated the arch rival. The Chief Minister said that the success of Pakistani team in the final is the result of best team work.

In his message of felicitation, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that the victory of National Hockey Team has won laurels for Pakistan the credit of which goes to all the members and officials of the team. He prayed for similar achievements for the captain and all the players of the National Hockey Team in future as well.
