Lahore: Top Position Holder girl and boy students of Intermediate Examination 2012 from all Provinces of the country other than Punjab, including Gilgit Baltistan, Federal Board of Education and AJK reached Murree on Wednesday afternoon on a three day study and recreational visit of the hill town on the invitation of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. These position holder students were presented Guard of Honour by a smart contingent of police on their arrival at Government House Murree.
These toppers are currently visiting Punjab on the invitation of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and after visiting Danish Schools Chistian, Bahawalnagar, historical places in Lahore and meeting with Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, they reached Murree on three day trip of country’s popular picnic hill town. These students have been offered stay in Govt. House Murree and will be accorded protocol of State Guest during their study and recreational visit.
DCO Rawalpindi Capt. ® Saqib Zafar represented Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in the Guard of Honour ceremony, while ASP Murree, D.G. Protocol Punjab Asjad Ghanni, Lady Protocol Officer Miss Nadia Awan, representative officers of education departments of Sindh, Baluchistan, KPK, Gilgit Baltistan, Federal Education Board and AJK were also present on this occasion.
Addressing the position holder students on this occasion, he said that Punjab Government giving top priority to promotion of education and for achieving this objective, it has taken various revolutionary steps to increase educational facilities and encourage students for acquiring education. He added that the provincial govt. has established Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) with a revolving fund of Rs. 10 billion through which talented students are being providing scholarships for higher education purely on basis of merit.
He said that govt. has encouraged position holder students by awarding them cash prizes of lakhs of rupees and by offering study and recreational visits of Lahore and Murree with a view to recognize the hard-work and talent of the position holder girl and boy students in board examination. He further said that laptop distribution among talented students is also continuation and part of this policy. He hoped that position holder students would enjoy the visit of Murree and would learn a lot by visiting Resource Centre & Digital Laboratory, Patriata Wheel Chair, PC Bhurban, visit of Mall and other picnic points of the hill town during their three day stay.
Expressing their views, some of position holder students said that they were highly indebted and thankful to Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif who invited them on visit of Punjab, specially Lahore & Murree. They wished that they might have a Chief Minister like Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif who may promote education in their respective Provinces on the lines being done in Punjab. They said that they would never forget hospitality of Punjab and memorable moments of their visit to Lahore & Murree.
