Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that societies are perished due to injustice, pressure and influence. He stressed upon the need of making the system of provision of justice more effective so that complaints of the citizens could be redressed at local level and they will not have to run from pillar to post for getting justice. The Chief Minister said that provision of justice to the oppressed is his mission and he will not tolerate any hindrance or negligence in accomplishment of this mission. He said that law should be immediately moved against oppression and police should not accept any pressure in performance of their duties.
He was talking to the complainants of various districts at Model Town today. MNA Pervaiz Malik, Advocate General Punjab, Secretaries Home and Prosecution, DIG Investigations, DG Anti-Corruption, DG Punjab Forensic Science Agency and other concerned officials attended the meeting. The Chief Minister issued on the spot orders for the redressal of complaints of the complainants.
Talking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that Punjab government has taken concrete measures for changing the thana culture and the model police stations are being established in the province. He directed that police should perform their duties diligently for helping the oppressed. He said that the investigation of cases should be completed and challans submitted to the courts at the earliest so that the accused should be awarded deterrent punishment. The Chief Minister said that supremacy of law ensures peace and timely redressal of grievances of the oppressed. He said that police can earn blessings of Almighty Allah in this world and the world hereafter for providing justice to the oppressed. He stressed that all demands of justice should be fulfilled during investigation of cases and no political or administrative pressure should be accepted. He said that the process of investigation of cases should be completed at the earliest so that accused could be provided deterrent punishment . The Chief Minister warned that strict action will be taken against police officials using delaying tactics in investigation and besides departmental action against such employees, cases will also be registered against them for showing criminal negligence. He said that provision of justice is responsibility of police and administration and they should discharge their obligation efficiently.
The Chief Minister listened to the problems of the complainants attentively and considered fifteen various cases and also issued necessary instructions to the concerned police officials. He ordered immediate arrest of former DSP Jehangir involved in the case of 92 kg hereon in Raiwind and said that involvement of police officials in narcotics business is intolerable. He directed to arrest the accused involved in the murder of three persons in Burki, Lahore within seven days and assured the complainants that justice will be provided to them. The Chief Minister also directed to provide security to the plaintiff. Concerned police officials while informing about the progress of investigation in murder case in Sheikhupura told that the accused involved in the case have fled abroad upon which the Chief Minister directed that necessary steps should be taken for bringing back the accused from abroad and strict action should be taken against the police officials showing criminal negligence in investigation. He assured that the accused involved in the abuse and murder of seven years’ old girl in Ichhra would be awarded deterrent punishment.
Shahbaz Sharif directed the police to take action against the accused involved in murder of four persons in Nawan Kot and called for a report within fifteen days. He ordered that no leniency should be shown to the accused and the absconders should be immediately arrested. The Chief Minister also ordered arrest of the accused in murder case of Vegetable Market Gujranwala within seven days. The complainants thanked and prayed for the Chief Minister upon immediate redressal of their complaints.
