Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its ties with the United Kingdom and his visit to Britain has strengthened bilateral relations. He said that we want trade and not aid, with the UK and want to turn ties into sustainable trade relations. He said that the UK is already providing valuable assistance to Punjab in the education field.
He expressed these views while talking to UK Parliamentarian Lord Nazir Ahmed here today. Matters of mutual interest and promotion of Pak-UK ties were discussed in the meeting. Barrister Abid Hussain, Rizwan Aslam, Zubair Gill and Rana Wajid were also present.
Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that PML-N government has set new records of public service by taking revolutionary steps in education, health, transport, infrastructure and other sectors throughout the province and has promoted merit and transparency in all sectors. He said that the confidence reposed by the people in the candidates of PML-N in bye-elections is a clear proof of our practical performance. He expressed the hope that PML-N will also win general elections with glorious success on the basis of his performance and come up to the expectations of the people. He said that the confidence of the people in performance of PML-N is a significant certificate for us. Lord Nazir Ahmed while appreciating the steps taken by the Chief Minister Punjab for the welfare of the masses said that international institutions have also acknowledged the excellent performance displayed by Shahbaz Sharif in Punjab.
