Modified revised formula for GCD issued today

Lahore: The notification of the modified revised formula for general cadre doctors of Punjab, is the first mile stone in the doctors service structure achievements, and will help promoting more doctors of general cadre into grade 18, 19 and 20. These views were expressed by the General Cadre Doctors Association (GCDA) president dr Masood Akhtar sheikh while addressing the emergent provincial council meeting held on the issuance of the notification of revised formula for general cadre doctors here at Lahore.

Dr Masood sheikh said that GCDA has multiple meetings with the finance department, including additional secretary finance, deputy secretary finance, secretary finance, along with secretary and special secretary health Punjab in the last weeks and as a consequence of this the finance department orders no FD.PC.2-6/77(pt-IV)(921/12), issued today dated 21/12/12 is the major break through in the implementation of the agreed upon service structure of doctors, this notification will help solve the problem of doctors. He added that as per new notification the long standing demand of GCDA to revise the cadre strength of general cadre doctors have been accepted and materialized, so the cadre strength has been revised, and new strength of male general cadre doctors is 10698 instead of 9051, while that of female GC doctor is 4031 instead of 3654, making a total cadre strength of 14729 instead of 12705 doctors serving in general cadre in Punjab. He added that the other demand of revising the 4 tier formula and making it more cylindrical i.e instead of 50:34:15:1 into 42: 36:19:3 has also been notified.

He added that this revised formula have added 230 seat of grade 20 in male, 84 seats of grade 20 in female , 676 seat of grade 19 in male, 218 seat of grade 19 in female, 774 seat of grade 18 in male while 209 seat of grade 18 in female doctors belonging to general cadre doctors in Punjab. This will help dispel the disparity of promotion of general cadre doctors and will also help remove the delay in promotion in this cadre, this is the major step towards stopping brain drain from the country . Dr Masood sheikh said that GCDA is greatly indebt to the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz sharif, chairman of the service structure committee senator Ishaq Dar, special assistant to CM Punjab Khawja Salman Rafqiue, secretary Health Capt Arif Nadeem, special secretary health Mr. Babar Tarrar and Secretary Finance for showing so much concern on this issue. he added that with out their due cooperation this notification could not have been achieved so early. Dr sheikh expressed that since hundreds of seats are now available in grade 20 and 19 so it is high time that the tentative seniority list of grade 18 waiting in health department be revised and notified immediately so that the doctors waiting for their promotion will be benefitted.

He further added that as per agreement the promotion shall start from the higher scale to a lower scale, and the promotion of BS 18 and 19 into BS 19 and 20 should be made prior to any promotion from grade 17 to 18. Dr Masood sheikh expressed that the same pace of service structure achievement will be observed for issuance of the notifications in other agreed upon points and expressed that general cadre doctors are united through out the province and different meeting has been held on the issue of the service structure recently. Dr sheikh expressed that now the responsibility lies on the shoulder of doctors to pay back to its nation.

General secretary Dr Rana Rafique, Dr Asad Abbas shah, Dr Asim farooqui, , Dr Arif Iftikhar, Dr Ejaz Warriach, Dr Shahid, Dr Aslam hameed, Dr Alia, Dr shazia, Dr Muhammad Arif, Dr Shahid Choohan, Dr Muhammad Gulzar, Dr Mahmood Shaukat, also spoke on the occasion and hails the decision of the Punjab government.
