Lahore: An important and high-level meeting of top officers of different law enforcing agencies was held at the Police Club Lahore today after the clear-cut directions of the Supreme Court regarding the arrest former chairman OGRA .
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman presided over the meeting while IG Motorways Police Zafar Abbas Lak, Additional-IG Special Branch Punjab Nasir Khan Durrani, Lahore CCPO Aslam Tareen, Director NAB Rawalpindi Naeem Baig, Deputy Director NAB Waqas, DIG (Operations) Punjab Sohail Ahmed Khan, DIG CTD Javed Islam, DIG (Legal) Ahsan Ullah Bajwa, DIG (Investigations) Chaudhry Shafique Gujjar, DIG (Operations) Lahore Muhammad Tahir Rai, SSP (Operations) Lahore Sohail Sukhera, SSP (Investigation) Babar Bakhat Qureshi, SSP Islamabad police Tahir Alam Khan, SP CIA Omar Virk, and PSO to IGP Muhammad Ali Nakokar were also present on this occasion.
The IGP told the NAB officers said that the Punjab Police would leave no stone unturned to arrest the nation’s criminal like Touqeer Sadiq and also provide all possible help to the NAB authorities for this purpose.
On the recommendations of the NAB officials, the IGP Punjab constituted a 20-member police team to be headed by SP Malik Karamat Khokhar. This special team has been attached with the NAB along with logistic and technical support.
The IGP also asked the SSP Islamabad Police to provide other required support to the NAB authorities in the Capital.
The NAB authorities were also asked to take up the issue of the arrest of the Touqeer Sadiq with the federal Interior Ministry to form a Joint Investigations Team (JIT) comprising officers from the IB, MI and ISI.
Moreover, the NAB was also recommended to freeze the bank accounts and other properties of Touqeer Sadiq while those who helped the main accused in corruption or got benefit from him should also be interrogated. The next meeting would be held during the next the week to discuss the progress in this regard.
Meanwhile, talking to the reporters, the IGP said that the Punjab Police would never hesitate raiding any place to arrest Touqeer Sadiq.
