Lahore: Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Mujahid Sherdil has said that Punjab government has made provision of basic rights to the children as its priority and has taken rapid steps for provision of education, health and other facilities to the children. He said that the children have to face difficulties during natural calamities, therefore, it is necessary to provide information to the social organizations besides creating awareness and necessary steps in this regard. He said that all district governments have been directed to ensure provision of basic facilities to the children.
He expressed these views while addressing a workshop held in connection with child protection at a local hotel today. Director PDMA Capt. Retd. Abdul Sattar, Director Operations Shehzad Fazal Abbas, Coordinator Nisar Ahmad Sani, Incharge IT Irfan Mirza, Consultant Kaneez Fatima and representatives of NGOs belonging to various districts of Lahore Division attended the workshop.
Mujahid Sherdil said that speedy measures have been taken for providing conducive atmosphere to the children so that they could utilize their energies for the development of the country in future. He stressed upon social and donor agencies to play their due role by joining hands with the government. He said that Rescue 1122, social welfare department and local NGOs have been made binding to provide immediate protection to the children during natural calamities. He told that awareness and training is being provided to the social organizations in this 2-day workshop. He said that earlier, such workshops had also been held in Multan and Rawalpindi for providing information to NGOs.
