Lahore: The financial and economic development depends upon better security and law and order situation. Therefore, the business community would be provided protection by making the Punjab a crime-free province. The crimes rate has deceased by 50 per cent in the province owing to aggressive policing and the criminals could be eliminated only by implementing an effective strategy. The network of most wanted proclaimed offenders and court absconders has been smashed successfully.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman stated this while addressing a ceremony held at FPCCI today. CCPO Aslam Tareen, DIG (Operations) Muhammad Tahir Rai and SSP (internal accountability division) Shariq Kamal and PSO to IGP Muhammad Ali Nakokar, Chairman Law and Order and peace committee of FPCCI Khawaja Khawar Rashid, Regional Chairman FPCCI Sheikh Abdul Waheed Sandal, and Azhar Majeed Sheikh were also present on this occasion besides others.
IGP Punjab also said that they did not believe in fake encounters while the Punjab police came across the hardened criminals for no less 350 times. At least 25 policemen were martyred while many criminals were eliminated during the encounters.
The IGP also said that judicial inquiry was conducted into six police encounters in which the policemen found guilty were awarded strict punishment. The provincial police chief said that they consider fake encounters as Haram.
The IGP further said the strong economies of China and Vietnam are a proof of better law and order situation which attracts huge foreign investment. He also said that the aggressive policing policy was adopted to make the Punjab a crime-free province and the police successfully controlled robberies in banks and jewelry shops.
Talking about terrorism incidents, the IGP said that all the terror incidents have been traced with the special assistance of intelligence agencies, which played a key role in smashing the terrorists’ network.
The representatives of FPCCI lauded the efforts of the IGP, CCPO and DIG (Operations) for maintaining peace in the province during the holy month of Muharram. They also appreciated the police officers for keeping close liaison with the business community and taking steps to provide protection to their businesses. The FPCCI members from Sialkot district told the IGP that Sialkot has been made crime free district.
Meanwhile, Khawaja Khawar Rashid Chairman Law and Order and Peace Committees of FPCCI presented shields to IGP, Lahore CCPO, DIG (Operations) and SSP Internal Accountability Division.
