Lahore: Centre for Human Rights Education’s Director Samson Salamat and General Secretary, Adoo Ram has appreciated the Members of the Provincial Assembly Ms. Amna Ulfat of Pakistan Muslim League (Q) for moving a resolution in the Punjab Assembly for the rights of Trans-genders community, especially for their representation in the parliament.
Samson Salamat has demanded that same kind of resolutions should be moved in the other provincial assemblies as well the national assembly and requested the other honourable members of the provincial assembly of Punjab to support and adopt the resolution to support this effort for the rights of this marginalized and discriminated community.
Our effort is for a society which is free of all forms of discrimination will continue and we look forward to more support from the members of the political parties and all other stake-holders, Mr. Samson Salamat, added.
Adoo Ram said that we will continue to raise our voices for the rights of the marginalized communities in our society including members of the transgenders community.
The Centre for Human Rights Education has been doing advocacy in collaboration of other civil society organization including “Itehad Brae Haqooqe Khwajsra” and Aids Awareness Society for the rights of Transgender’s community and other marginalized groups of Pakistan.
This is to be noted that Ms. Amna Ulfat participated in CHRE consultation on November 28th in Lahore on the political participation of transgenders in which she had committed to move a resolution in the Punjab Assembly.
