Lahore: Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Mashhood Ahmed has said that women are playing an important role in the development of our country. He said that the aim of observing Working Women Day is to highlight their abilities and participation into the national mainstream.
He said this while presiding over a high level meeting held in connection with observing Working Women Day on December 22 at 8-Club Road, today. Advisor to CM Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, Secretary Women Development Department Irum Bukhari, Secretary Information, Mohyuddin Wani, Secretary Higher Education, DCOs, Additional Commissioners and representatives of concerned departments attended the meeting. Rana Mashhood Ahmed appreciated the holding of seminars regarding working women at tehsil, district and divisional level. He said that through these seminars, awareness would be created about the steps taken by the government for the rights of the women and resolving their problems.
The meeting reviewed in detail arrangements for observing Working Women Day on December 22 throughout the province and women package and issued necessary instructions to the concerned departments. The participants of the meeting were directed to inform about the important function to be held in Lahore and the importance of Working Women Day on December 22 in their respective districts.
Begum Zakia Shahnawaz addressing the meeting said that women are playing very active role in the development of the society. She said that government is making efforts to highlight the role and dignity of the women in the society at every level. She said that 22nd December is of great importance as the working women are participating actively in the functions throughout the province. Zakia Shahnawaz said that the participation of women reflects confidence in the steps taken by Chief Minister Punjab for their welfare.
Provincial Secretary for Women Development Irum Bukhari informed about the implementation on women package. She said that more than 80% implementation has been made on women package in the light of the directions of the Chief Minister Punjab.
