Lahore: Director General Public Relations Punjab, Ather Ali Khan has stressed upon Public Relations Officers to use their professional skills and play their active role in informing the people about the welfare-oriented projects of the Punjab government.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of Divisional Directors. Additional Secretary Information & Culture Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani also attended the meeting.
Ather Ali Khan said that public relations officers should ensure the publicity of public welfare projects on print and electronic media by acting as bridge between the media and the government. He said that people should be informed about the welfare projects of Punjab government costing billions of rupees by benefiting from modern technology. He further said that the responsibilities of public relations officers have increased manifold during democratic government as due to close liaison between media and the government, the confidence of the people enhances in the government institutions which strengthens democracy. He said that it is the responsibility of all government departments to launch and complete development and welfare oriented projects whereas public relations department has to inform the people about these projects through their publicity.
Additional Secretary Information, Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani assured that steps would be taken for resolution of the problems being faced by public relations department on priority basis so that its performance could be further increased.
