Lahore: Member National Assembly Hamza Shahbaz Sharif has said that due to the matches of foreign teams in Pakistan, the soft image of the country has improved in the world. He said that our youth has been encouraged due to participation of more than 25 lakh players and setting of eleven international records in Punjab Sports Festival.
He expressed these views while talking to media during a match between veteran hockey team of Netherland and teams of Dar Hockey Academy at Johar Town Hockey Ground, today. Hamza Shahbaz witnessed the match and distributed souvenirs among Netherland and Pakistani players. DG Sports Usman Anwar and organizers of Dar Hockey Academy and a large number of lovers of hockey were present on the occasion.
Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said that various teams of 26 countries of the world came to Pakistan for participating in Punjab Sports Festival. He said that recently Japanese wrestler Muhammad Hussain Anoki also came to Pakistan whereas high level delegations including Chief Ministers of Indian provinces visited Punjab which proved that there is no security problem here. Replying to a question, Hamza Shahbaz said that quitting the chairmanship of Punjab Sports Board by him will make no difference as under his leadership, the Sports Board has been strengthened by holding important events like Punjab Sports Festival. He expressed the hope that Punjab Sports Board will also demonstrate best performance during next year.
Replying to the questions of journalists, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said that it was important that the PML-N candidates have won with thumping majority against the joint candidates of Q-League and PPP. He said that it is not difficult to judge the mood of the people in the coming elections being held in the near future. He expressed the hope that the PML-N will achieve such victory in the entire Pakistan in coming elections on the basis of its clean leadership and excellent performance in Punjab. He thanked the people who elected PML-N candidates in bye-elections.
Replying to another question, Hamza Shahbaz said that two untoward incidents of firing took place during bye-elections and investigation is being carried out. He said that strict action will be taken against the person responsible of it. He said that we have full confidence and pride in the impartiality of present Chief Election Commissioner.
