Lahore: Punjab Health Department has directed administration of all government hospitals to remain alert and make all necessary arrangements in order to combat any emergency situation on the 9th and 10th of Moharram in order to ensure round the clock medical aid to the patients.
In a circular issued from the office of Secretary Health to Principals of medical colleges, teaching hospitals, autonomous medical institutions, DHQs and THQs hospitals and EDOs Health of all districts to ensure complete implementation of the medical cover plan. Furthermore, the administrations of the hospitals have been directed to ensure attendance of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff, besides keeping a sufficient stock of live saving and emergency use medicines, in addition to keeping all necessary arrangements at medical and surgical emergencies I the hospitals.
In the circular, it has further been stressed that all EDOs Health and MSs of DHQs and THQ hospitals should ensure availability of ambulances to give medical cover to the processions of Ashura Moharram in addition to ensuring availability of blood bags of all blood groups in all blood banks of the hospitals. The circular further stressed that, in order to completely implement the medical cover programme, the hospitals authorities should keep a close liaison with the district administration and police authorities by keeping their standby arrangements in order to ensure prompt medical help in accordance with the schedule of Majalis.
