Lahore: A high-level meeting was held here today, under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, regarding Kalma Chowk Underpass Project which was attended by Member Provincial Assembly Dr. Saeed Elahi, Chairman Planning & Development, Project Director BRT, DG LDA, Chief Traffic Officer, DGPR and authorities concerned. During the meeting, the Chief Minister gave approval to initiating immediate development work on the Kalma Chowk Underpass Project.
Addressing the meeting, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that for the first time in the history of the country, two underpasses of seven lanes are being constructed, simultaneously. One underpass would be of three lanes, while the other would be of four lanes, costing over Rs.one billion. He said millions of citizens would avail the facility of signal-free journey, after the completion of Kalma Chowk Underpass. The Chief Minister directed making foolproof arrangements to keep the traffic flowing during the construction of Kalma Chowk Underpass. He directed increasing the number of traffic wardens for the convenience of citizens during the development work. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif further directed that machinery being used for the development work should not be placed on the roads, while day and night work should be ensured at the development project to complete it expeditiously. During the meeting special prayers were also offered for the success of Kalma Chowk Underpass Project.
