Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary-Information Shafqat Mahmood on Tuesday asked Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to retract his accusations leveled against Imran Khan or submit concrete evidence failing which he would take him to the court of law under defamation charges.
Talking to a group of reporters here at the PTI media cell, Shafqat Mahmood said that PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif should seek pardon from the people of Pakistan whose mandate he had stolen back in 1990 elections by misusing public funds which were provided to him by the inter-services intelligence (ISI).
When asked whether he would comment over the fate of Nawaz Sharif following the Asghar Khan case judgment, Shafqat Mahmood advised Nawaz Sharif to quit politics which was the only honourable option left with him in wake of the apex court judgment.
Welcoming the statement of the chief election commissioner about disqualifying those who had been held responsible in Asghar Khan case by the supreme court, the PTI leader said that the independent judiciary had fixed responsibility upon Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif for receiving money from the ISI to help rob the 1990 elections against the public aspirations. Now they would have to face disqualification by the election commission of Pakistan as well as the public anger for their role in the conspiracy, he added.
“By accusing Imran Khan, Chaudhry Nisar has made a failed attempt to shift the media focus from the court order against Nawaz Sharif and his family. However, neither the media nor the nation would fall into his ploy as no one has a short memory in the today’s modern world,” said the PTI leader.
Shafqat Mahmood said that the court order had proved that the PML-N was a product of the establishment and that the Sharifs had always danced on the tunes of the ISI and the establishment.
“The PML-N leadership is so much afraid of Imran Khan’s popularity that they are leveling false and baseless accusations against him. After the court’s verdict, the peoples’ court would also give a verdict against Sharif family and coterie in the upcoming elections,” remarked the PTI leader.
He said that politics was a sacred cause for committed people like Imran Khan but Sharif family had turned it into business and they were ready to go to any limit for personal and family interests. He said that due to the people like Nawaz Sharif, general perception about politicians had been distorted and Sharifs would be held responsible if the people ever lost their confidence in democratic process.
