Lahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said it was strange that the Interior Minister Rehman Malik could see the assailants of Malala sitting in Afghanistan, but was unable to trace the target killers giving blood bath to Karachi every day.
Talking to different delegations at Mansoora on Monday, he said that terrorism and target killings were going on unabated in Karachi and Balochistan, and the government had completely failed to protect the life and property of the citizens. The PPP and its allies in the government had gifted nothing except blood letting to the people of the port city. Dozens of innocent people were being killed every day but the law enforcing institutions did not take action against the killers despite knowing them well.
Liaqat Baloch said that according to the report presented in the Supreme Court, hardened and convicted criminals had been released on parole and sent abroad, and all record about their crimes had also been destroyed. All this could happen only with the connivance an the support of the rulers, he argued.
The JI leader also feared sectarian violence at the time of Muharram with foreign backing. Strongly condemning the target killing of Madrissa students in Karachi on Sunday, Liaqat Baloch questioned why the government and the Human Rights bodies were silent on that. He demanded immediate arrest of the killers and their trial under the law.
