PIDA gives approval of farmers elections

Lahore: Managing Director Punjab Irrigation and Draining Authority Khalid Masood Chaudhry has given approval to the holding of election of farmers’ organization Jaalwala and its adjoining Khal Punchaits in district Bahawalnagar. According to the election plan, evolved by Chief Executive Bahawalnagar Area Water Board, besides appointing senior election officer and election officers by PIDA, the initial list of voters of Khal Punchaits have been prepared. Candidates and voters can submit their objections up to November 12, 2012 whereas senior election officer will be bound to decide these objections from November 13 to 19, 2012. Final list of voters will be displayed on November 20, 2012. Similarly, elections of Khal Punchaits will be from November 28 to December 05, 2012.

According to election plan, the list of newly elected chairmen of these Khal Punchaits will be released on December 07, whereas the notification for the election of management committee of Kisan Organization will be issued on the same day. All voters can submit their objections from December 8 to 17 whereas election officers will remove these objections from December 18 to 24, 2012. Voters list for the elections will be displayed on December 26. The papers for the office-bearers of the management committee of Kisan Organization will be received from December 27 to 28 whereas after scrutiny of the documents, the list of candidates will be completed on December 29. According to programme, final list of voters will be released on January 07, 2013 after deciding legal and administrative matters and electoral symbols will be allotted to the candidates. Elections will be held on January 14, 2013 and notification of election results will be issued on January 15.

MD PIDA has issued special instructions to all concerned officers for ensuring holding of elections in a transparent manner.
