Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Punjab government of Pakistan Muslim League-N has always solved the problems of journalists community on priority basis, while, in future as well journalists would be extended every possible facility in performance of their professional duty. He asserted that Punjab government has taken concrete steps to retrieve land which had been grabbed in the journalists colony as a result of which, a large portion of land has been retrieved. On the demand of the delegation of journalists, the Chief Minister announced formulation of a committee, headed by Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, to resolve all issues relating to the journalists colony. Apart from the concerned authorities, office-bearers of Lahore Press Club and Punjab Assembly Press Gallery would be included in the committee.
The Chief Minister was talking to a representative delegation of Lahore Press Club and Punjab Assembly Press Gallery at Model Town, here today. Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Secretary Information Punjab, Director General Public Relations, Vice President Lahore Press Club Shahbaz Mian, Secretary Zulfiqar Mahtoo, Finance Secretary, Afzaal Talib, President Punjab Assembly Press Gallery Shahzad Malik, besides other members were present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that the role of media has become of utmost significance in the present era, as responsible media plays a very vital role in progress and development of the society, besides providing guidance to the government and the people. He said metro bus project is a great public welfare development project, upon which less than Rs.27 billion have been spent. He said that a visit to the great metro bus project would soon be arranged for journalists’ community, which has been made structurally so strong that even a train can also ply on this route. He said that metro bus project is for the common man, who is happy over the project but a specific mafia is feeling perturbed over this project, however the mouths of so-called critics would be shut, once the metro bus started operating. He said as a result of great metro bus project, all segments of the society, including workers, farmers, students, employees and other would benefit from the modern transport facility. The Chief Minister said the fare of metro bus project would be kept within the range of the common man, while Punjab government would provide subsidy to ensure modern, comfortable and affordable travelling facility to the people. He said the metro bus project would prove to be torch-bearer of revolutionary changes in the style of travelling. During the meeting, various matters pertaining to the journalists’ colony came under discussion. The representative delegation of journalists paid glowing tribute to the Chief Minister for formulating a committee for solving the problems of the journalists’ colony and initiating the great metro bus project.
