JI welcomes SC decisions on POL, electricity tariff

Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has
welcomed the Supreme Court decisions in regard to the CNG, POL and electricity prices and termed these as the voice of the masses.

In a statement here on Thursday, he said that the present government comprising corrupt people, plunderers and extortionists had been looting the poor masses with both hands and there was none to check it. Besides revising the electricity tariff, the rulers had been charging Fuel Adjustment Charges (FAC) from the people unlawfully. OGRA and NEPRA had ganged up to exploit the poor people and the price of the locally produced gas was being enhanced every week along with the POL prices. All these steps naturally led to price spiral and added to the worries of the general public.

The JI Ameer urged the apex court to set up a committee under its own supervision for stabilizing the prices of POL products, electricity tariff and gas prices and also ensure the reimbursement of millions of rupees extracted from the consumers in the shape of FAC during the last five years.

Welcoming the Supreme Court decision, the JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, also urged the apex court to take notice of the high POL prices and provide some relief to the people in that respect. He was addressing a ceremony held to distribute monthly ration to some two hundred families in Allama Iqbal Town the city. He said that the rulers had made life miserable for the common man who was unable to meet both ends meet.

Liaqat Baloch said that nature had gifted this country with abundant resources but there was unjust distribution of resources because of the corrupt rulers. He was sure that the masses would reject the corrupt politicians in the next elections and elect honest and patriotic people who could solve their problems within the minimum time.
