Lahore: Member Provincial Assembly and Chairman Dengue Response Committee, Haji Allah Rakha has said that a concrete strategy is being adopted to ensure sanitation on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, alongwith effectively controlling dengue menace.
He was presiding over an anti-dengue campaign meeting at Cantt Katchery, during which Tehsil Municipal Administrative Officer Mirza Muzaffar Beg and officers of the concerned departments, coordinators and secretaries of union councils were also present. Haji Allah Rakha said that special steps would be taken for sanitation and removal of garbage on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, for which all concerned institutions should chalk out a comprehensive schedule. He said dengue larva eradication process in all houses of sensitive union councils would be ensured between 22nd October to 25th October alongwith undertaking spray and fogging of houses. He said anti-dengue steps have been appreciated at the government level as well as by the people. He said, with grace of Allah, difficult period has passed, however, struggle will continue till dengue virus is brought under complete control.
The meeting was informed that as many as 119 small rubbish dumps have been placed in various areas of union councils of Aziz Bhatti Town, in addition to the existing big rubbish containers. The meeting was told that shopping bags for garbage collection are being provided to all houses of union councils on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, whereas Lahore Waste Management Company’s vehicles are removing garbage during the morning and evening hours. Dr. Nauman of the Health Department informed the meeting that dengue larva has been eradicated after checking 43 places of the area however, people must ensure cleanliness of their houses so as to check the growth of dengue larva.
