Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif visited Multan and Bahawalnagar earlier today. . South of Punjab was given an extra 15% quota in the green tractor scheme; as per this scheme 20,000 tractors are to be distributed among those farmers who are between the ages of 18 and 35 and have been selected through a transparent and merit based process.
The applicants were shortlisted through computer based balloting. A subsidy of 200,000 rupees per tractor has been given by the Punjab Government which makes a total subsidy of 4 billion rupees. CM especially chose the South of Punjab to start the distribution process. Besides tractors, laser levelers were also distributed among small land owners between the ages of 18 and 35.
CM also awarded ownership certificates of land to extremely poor occupancy tenants of South Punjab. More than 100,000 extremely poor occupancy tenants will benefit in South Punjab. Ownership certificates of 5 marla plots were also given to extremely poor residents of South Punjab who do not own any property and had qualified through a transparent and merit based process. More than 25,000 people in South Punjab will benefit from this 5 marla Jinnah Abadi Scheme. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has always given importance to South Punjab and the people of South Punjab witnessed this fact today.
