Lahore: The Provincial Level of the Punjab Youth Festival 2012 has rolled into action as strong resistance was witnessed among the competitors of the nine division at different venues of the city on Sunday.
The competitions are being held between school, colleges, university and general public categories and on the day apart from Expo Centre, Iqbal Park Sports Complex and Punjab Stadium several other venues were engaged for the competitions.
In the volleyball university level competitions, Lahore beat Sahiwal, Gujranwala defeated Sargodha and Multan outplayed Bahawalpur.
In the college level competitions, Faisalabad beat Bahawalpur, Multan beat Sahiwal, DG Khan defeated Sargodha and Gujranwala beat Lahore while in school level matches, Gujranwala beat DG Khan, Sargodha beat Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi beat Lahore and Multan beat Sahiwal.
In boys university level volleyball competitions, Sargodha beat Rawalpindi, Gujranwala outplayed Sargodha and Lahore defeated Multan.
In the college level competitions, Faisalabad beat Multan, Bahawalpur beat Rawalpindi, DG Khan beat Sargodha and Sahiwal defeated Lahore while in school level, Gujranwala beat DG Khan, Faisalabad beat Rawalpindi, Lahore beat Sargodha and Multan defeated Bahawalpur.
In the general public events, Faisalabad beat Bahawalpur, Gujranwala beat Rawalpindi, Lahore beat Multan and Sargodha beat DG Khan.
In Athletics general public events, Sahiwal bagged first 3 positions. The 100 M race was won by Sakhawat Hussain, in 800 M’s winner was Mohammed Akram, Mohammed Sammad of Faisalabad won the 1500 M race whereas the long jump’s winner was Mohammed Imran of Gujranwala. Mohammed Mushtaq of Lahore won shot put and Sahiwal’s Mohammed Adeel bagged first position in javelin throw.
In school division athletics events, 100 m race, Hafiz Waqas of Gujranwala. In 200 m, Lahore’s Mohammad Laeeq. In 800m, Sahiwal’s Arslan Ali was the winner in 1500m.
Faisalabad’s Ahsan Shehzad took the long jump, Faisalabad’s Fahad Adeel got in shot put and Multan’s Mohammad Arshad were declared winners.
In football matches at university level, Sargodha beat Gujranwala by 4 goals. At school level football, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore were declared winners beating DG Khan, Bahawalpur and Gujranwala. At college level football, Rawalpindi beat Multan and Sargodha defeated Gujranwala at penalty kicks while Faisalabad beat Bahawalpur.
In general public events, Multan, Rawalpindi and DG Khan achieved first positions in football matches. Gujranwala, Lahore and Faisalabad were the losers.
In girls university level table tennis competitions, Sargodha, Rawalpindi and Lahore beat Multan, Gujranwala and Bahawalpur respectively.
In college level, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, DG Khan and Sahiwal won their matches. In university level basketball, Faisalabad while in general public level, Lahore won.
