Lahore: Surprise visits would be paid to all jails in view of the complaints lodged by prisoners and visitors, while open katcheries would also be held in this regard. Special teams are being formed, to be headed by Minister Prisons, in this connection.

While talking to delegations from different districts who called on him at his office, Minister Prisons Malik Iqbal Chunnar said that DIGs Prisons of all Regions throughout the Province have been directed to display their official numbers in big banners, so that complaints of the citizens could be addressed. He said lawyers, social institutions and notables can get their complaints registered at 0300-8009001, while prisoners of the jail staff can also have their complaints lodged here. The Minister said that, under his leadership, special teams would pay visits to various jails of the province and strict action would be taken in case of any complaint. Malik Iqbal Chunnar said that open katcheries would also be held in an open area, outside the prisons, so that the relatives of the prisoners and other people could get their complaints lodged. The Minister said that similarly, open katcheries would also be arranged inside the prisons, where complaints of the prisoners would be heard.
