PEEF is providing scholarships on merit:Ch. Masood Iqbal

Lahore: The Shahbaz Sharif’s scholarship programme under the auspices of Punjab Educational Endowment Foundation (PEEF) would prove to be harbinger of a new and bright future of the nation beside ensuring rapid progress in Pakistan as under this programme Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has provided a rare opportunity to capable students to prove themselves in life. Shahbaz Sharif’s scholarships are being awarded purely on merit and in an entirely transparent manner.

This was stated by Chairman Educational Trust Chiniot and renowned industrialist Ch. Masood Iqbal while addressing Shahbaz Sharif’s scholarship programme awareness seminar held at Government Islmia College Chiniot today. Member Provincial Assembly Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Chinioti, DCO Dr. Irshad Ahmad, EDO Education Mehr Ashraf Ali Haral, principals of different colleges, educational experts, notables of the area, PEEF scholars, their parents and a large number of girl and boy students were present on the occasion. Ch. Masood Iqbal said that it is an established fact that only those nations achieve progress and prosperity who are educated and the amount of attention to ensure educational progress in the province given by Punjab Chief Minister is unprecedented in the history of the country. He said that now brilliant and deserving boy and girl students would not have to face financial difficulties to continue their education as under PEEF scholarship programme, the request form is sent directly to the homes of brilliant boy and girl students who show higher academic achievement in order to save the self respect of the deserving families, which is the most significant aspect of Shahbaz Sharif’s scholarship programme under PEEF system. He pointed out that many students are getting education under Shahbaz Sharif’s scholarship programme not only inside the country but in the best universities of foreign countries which is a historic step.

Member National Assembly Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Chinioti paid glowing tributes to the development vision of Punjab Chief Minister, who has arranged provision of educational scholarships to deserving, brilliant boy and girl students, for which PEEF, worth billion of rupees has been established which is no less than a blessing for the children of less fortunate segment of the society. He said that not only the students of Punjab but brilliant students of other provinces are also benefiting from PEEF, while five percent quota has specially been earmarked for minorities, orphans and government servants with low salary. DCO Dr. Irashad Ahmad said that Punjab government is following comprehensive policies to ensure promotion of education in the province. He said that the initiation of Shahbaz Sharif’s scholarship programme, under PEEF, is highly praiseworthy as now brilliant students will not have to face financial difficulties as Shahbaz Sharif’s scholarship programme will be available to them at their doorstep. He informed that 250 girl and boy students of district Chiniot are being extend Shahbaz Sharif’s scholarship programme under PEEF. Representing parents in the seminars, Shakil Ahmad and Raiba Sultana said that as a result of Shahbaz Sharif’s scholarship programme, students of poor families have been provided resources, enabling them to achieve their educational dreams in an effective manner. Representing PEEF’s scholarship, students Haseeb Usman and Farzana Rashid said that establishment of PEEF is a significant step towards realization of the higher educational objectives by the students.
