Lahore: Provincial Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Malik Ahmad Ali has taken strict notice of canal water at Renala Khurd 1/L, and has ordered SE Sahiwal to solve the problem of farmers and ensure provision of canal water to them.
In this connection, a delegation from Renala Khurd under the leadership of Ch. Muhammad Khalid met the provincial minister in his office and apprised him of their problems relating to the canal water. The delegation complained that due to mushroom growth of plants at the edges of canal and its dilapidated condition, the flow of water is being disrupted, as a result of which the farmers have to face paucity of water for their crops as well as fodder of their cattle. Provincial Minister assured the delegation that their water problems would be solved on priority basis while he himself would also visit Renala Khurd within next few days.
Malik Ahmad Ali said that agriculture is the backbone of the economy of the country and Punjab government is providing maximum facilities to the farmers. The Minister said that provision of canal water would be ensured at all costs in order to protect the rights of famers especially the tail-enders.
