Lahore: Secretary Zakat and Usher Capt.(R) Jehanzeb Khan has said that elimination of dengue mosquito is our collective responsibility whereas every citizen has to play his role to make anti dengue campaign successful. Strong will and determination is essential for eradication of dengue, he added.
He stated this while addressing in a special ceremony held in connection with anti dengue campaign at the Administrator Zakat Office, here today. Administrator Zakat Punjab Muhammad Yousaf Butt, Deputy Administer Zakat(Field) Rana Muhammad Sajjad Babar, Deputy Administrator Zakat(Hqs) Shafqat Pervaiz, Chairman Zakat Committee Lahore Kalifa Abdul Majeed, officers, members and chairman of local Zakat Committees of Lahore were also present on the occasion.
Jehanzeb Khan said that dengue virus is a disease like any other illness, and, instead of fearing it, there is need to take concrete steps against it. He said that Punjab government is utilizing all resources, mass media and other institutions, to ensure elimination of dengue virus. He said that there are more than 24 thousand zakat committees in the province and, if every zakat committee holds awareness meeting regarding anti-dengue preventive measures, the message against dengue virus can reach far-flung rural areas as well, along with urban areas of the province.
Later, DMS Ganga Ram Hospital Dr. Masood Akhtar Sheikh gave a detailed briefing to the participants regarding anti-dengue safety measures. He particularly stressed that instead of visiting quacks in case of dengue fever, the patients should immediately contact qualified doctors and government hospitals to avoid further complication.
