Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that we have not to fear from dengue but to fight against it. He said that dengue will be eliminated with the active cooperation of the masses and effective steps of the government. The Chief Minister said that anti-dengue day is being observed on September 02 enthusiastically and all segments of the society will fight against the dengue jointly with the government. He said that protection of human lives will be ensured by utilizing all human resources for elimination of this fatal disease.
In his message on Anti-Dengue Day, the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that seminars, walks and workshops have been arranged throughout the province including Lahore on September 02 for enhancing public awareness. Government offices will remain open on this day as per the decision of the Punjab government. He said that living nations determine their future by learning a lesson from the past. The Chief Minister said that Punjab government had also saved thousands of human lives due to timely and solid measures last year. However, it is not acceptable that we should once again face the situation of 2011, he added. Shahbaz Sharif said that those experts who were sent for training to Sri Lanka and Thailand to curb dengue are now working as master trainers after completing their training. He said that any negligence or inefficiency cannot be imagined regarding protection of human lives. Shahbaz Sharif said that he himself is monitoring the arrangements of Anti-Dengue Day. He warned that strict action will be taken on any complaint of negligence or irresponsibility. He said that a vigorous campaign is being launched for preventive measures against dengue. The Chief Minister said it is high time that the elected representatives should launch this anti-dengue programme in the form of a movement in which full participation of common man should be ensured. He said that the role of government machinery is of utmost importance in this regard, therefore, the government officers should take part in the campaign against dengue with the spirit of public service. The Chief Minister appealed that all segments of the society should be fully prepared for coping with the dengue and supplement the efforts of the government.
Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that all segments of the society will have to play their due role for the elimination of dengue and we have to defeat the dengue with collective efforts. He said that there is also a need of changing our social habits for saving from dengue.
