Officials to launch dengue awareness campaign:Commissioner Lahore

Commissioner Lahore Division Jawad Rafique Malik has ordered officers of the all concerned departments to launch full fledge public awareness campaign for the eradication of dengue. He directed all the concerned departments to keep a close liaison with each other and the public representatives as well so that effective control might be obtained on the dengue menace.

He was presiding over a meeting held to review the anti-dengue arrangements at commissioner office, here today. The meeting was also attended by Members National Assembly Pervaiz Malik, Mian Marghoob Ahmad, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Members Provincial Assembly Kh. Imran Nazir, Ch. Shahbaz, Haji Allah Rakha, Rana Tajamal Hussain, DCO Lahore, ADC(G), administrators, TMO and Chairmen of the town emergency committee beside the officers of other departments.
The commissioner said that the people representatives, NGOs and district government teams would play an effective role in the dengue eradication campaign.

He disclosed that an all out campaign regarding the dengue eradication being launched in the district government and all the offices of the towns attached to the same from Sunday August 26. He pointed out that all the concerned departments would rehearse respective programs regarding the public awareness campaign and larvaeciding and following that the dengue eradication activities would formally commence. He said that special team regarding dengue eradication would be set up in the towns which would comprise the people representatives, political workers apart from the district and town administration officers.

Those teams would also furnished pictorial proves regarding their anti-dengue activities to the commissioner’s officer. He said that cleansing, screening and larvaeciding would take place in all the offices apart from the commissioner office, DCO Officer and CDGL. He directed the town administration officers to induct trained persons in the teams set for the purpose. The commissioner also directed that the dengue brigades might as well be made vibrant in all out way. He asked the town administration officers to convene the Town Emergency Response Committee meetings at least twice a week and the proceeding of the meeting be given full press coverage.

Pervaiz Malik MNA expressed the opinion that the endemic could be grappled with through the participation of the people from all walks of life. Mian Marghoob Ahmad MNA expressed the pledge that all the towns would work even harder than they did last year against the dengue.
