N-League reacts over PTI financial plan

Lahore: Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that Imran Khan is an ignorant politician with regard to Pakistan’s fiscal and economic situation.

Commenting upon a statement by Imran Khan, Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that the tax to GDP ratio, during the last era of government of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, was 14 percent, which is considered a substantially good performance throughout the world. At present this ratio has decreased to 9%. Senator Pervaiz Rashid maintained that, if Imran Khan can talk about surpassing 14 percent in this regard, he can, otherwise he should not misrepresent the facts as Imran Khan has no agenda or any strategy for taking this ratio to 14%.

Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that people cannot be hoodwinked by leveling baseless allegations on different issues. He said that the change about which Imran Khan talks does not relate to it. He said that the facts reveal that Mian Nawaz Sharif gave better results than the expectations of the nation during his two tenures and got recognized Pakistan at international level by introducing motorway, yellow cab, telephone booths and self-employment schemes for youth 25 years ago. Similarly, Nawaz Sharif also eliminated dacoity of billions of rupees being committed through octroi tax and the plundering by government officers by providing green channel facility to Pakistanis coming from abroad.

Pervaiz Rashid said that Imran Khan had supported the forces of establishment having narrow approach for the failure of all this process during that period and now Imran Khan is again playing the same game. He said that the claim of Imran Khan for bringing change is in fact an attempt to support “Zardari group” but the conscious people of Pakistan will never allow him to succeed. Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that Nawaz Sharif is the first who started the process of freeing the country’s economy from government clutches and the other countries of the region made progress by following this model.

He advised Imran Khan not to become economic expert through so-called seminars. He asked Imran Khan to first satisfy the nation about the questions being raised on the investment by his institution and tell when will he return 300 million dollars to Shaukat Khanum which were collected through Zakat and Fitrana.
