Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the serious energy crisis being faced by Pakistan has caused irreparable loss to the national economy. He stressed the need for taking steps on emergent basis for overcoming shortage of electricity. He said that Punjab government is working on the projects of generating energy through alternate sources. The Chief Minister said that solid steps have been taken for promotion of bio-gas technology. He disclosed that Punjab China Bio-Gas Institute would be set up with the cooperation of which will be completely autonomous and an agreement will be made with BIOMAK company for this purpose. While constituting a steering committee headed by Chairman Planning and Development, the Chief Minister directed that this committee should settle all matters with regard to setting up of institute, cooperation in Bio-Gas technology and making an agreement with Chinese company.
He was talking to a delegation led by Mr. Ren Xiaobin of Chinese Company BIOMAK here today. Matters relating to cooperation in bio technology and setting up of bio-gas institute were discussed during the meeting. Provincial Minister for Agriculture Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh, Members Provincial Assembly Rana Afzal Khan, Chaudhry M Asad Ullah, Chairman Planning and Development, Secretaries of Finance, Energy and Agriculture Departments, Vice Chancellor of Agriculture University Faisalabad and experts were present on the occasion.
Talking to the Chinese delegation, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that setting up of bio-gas institute for promotion of bio-gas technology is of great importance, therefore, work on this project should be initiated speedily. He said that Chinese company BIOMAK has expertise in bio-gas sector and full benefit will be taken from its technology and experiences. He said that there is a need of technical cooperation of Chinese Company BIOMAK in designing of the institute, training, preparation of master trainers and other matters. He said that Pakistan and China are tied with everlasting relationship and the friendship of both the countries is higher than the Himalaya, deeper than sea and sweeter than honey. He said that Pak-China friendship has stood the test of time and cooperation of China in development of various sectors is commendable. He said that we always feel pleasure to welcome our Chinese brethren.
Head of Chinese delegation Mr. Ren Xiaobin informing about the research in bio-gas by Chinese Company BIOMAK and training matters told that his company has expertise in bio-gas technology and done a lot of research work in bio-gas. He disclosed that BIOMAK Company is conducting 50 national training courses throughout the world and we will extend cooperation in setting up of research institute, provision of infrastructure, preparation of master trainers and transfer of bio-gas technology to Punjab. He said that deep friendly relations exist between Pakistan and China which are further strengthening with the passage of time. Vice Chancellor of Agriculture University Faisalabad informed about the cooperation between BIOMAK Company and Agriculture University in bio-gas technology.
