Lahore: Punjab Government has waived the penalty imposed on delayed registration of births and deaths in all union councils throughout the province . Keeping in view the difficulties being faced by the people in this regard, the Punjab Chief Minister had directed waiver of Rs.500 penalty for delayed registration of births and deaths by the local bodies department, after which the local bodies department has, by amending Punjab Local Government Ordinance 2001, Section-40 of the 8th Schedule, has issued notification in this regard.
Secretary Local Bodies Punjab Khizer Hayat Gondal has informed that keeping in view the public welfare, the Punjab government has taken this significant step and, from now on, no penalty would be imposed for delayed registration of birth or death of any person. He further informed that computerized “B-Form” has been made compulsory for acquisition of national identity card and for admission in matriculations and, for this purpose, the registration of date of birth in concerned union council is mandatory. He said this will be an important step for those who have not been able to get the birth or death registered in time.
