Lahore: Punjab Government has ordered foolproof security arrangements all over the province, including Lahore, to ensure maintenance of law and order on the occasion of Juma-tul-Wida, Chand Raat and Eid-ul-fitr. He directed police authorities to make even more fail-safe security arrangements on Juma-tul-Wida, Chand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr as compared to the rest of the days of Ramzan-ul-Mubark, so that no untoward incident should take place.
The Chief Minister was presiding over a high level meeting held to review overall law and order situation in the province as well as security arrangements especially on the occasion of Juma-tul-Wida, Chand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr. The meeting was attended by Secretary Home, Commissioner Lahore Division, acting IG Punjab, District Coordination Officer Lahore and concerned officials of law enforcing agencies. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that foolproof security arrangements should be made for Juma-tul-Wida, Chand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr. He said that a comprehensive security plan should be strictly implemented in view of heavy rush in bazaars, during the last days of the holy month. He said that special arrangements should be made for the security of markets and shopping centers and elite force should be deployed at various markets and shopping centers while patrolling of elite force should also be ensured in this regard. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif directed to depute additional police force for the security of Juma-tul-Wida and Eid congregations along with ensuring that persons attending these congregations should do so only after thorough checking. He directed concerned police officers to ensure security of Eid congregations through checking by metal detectors and walk-through gates along with making special arrangements for the security of sensitive places. The Chief Minister further ordered that the security be kept at high alert throughout the province, while a comprehensive strategy should be adopted to eradicate street crimes. He called upon the law enforcing agencies to ensure effective system of intelligence sharing so that the nefarious aims of anti-social elements could be thwarted. The Chief Minister said that fail-safe security at mosques, Imam Bargahs, Eid Gahs and other places of worships should be ensured at all cost.
