Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting which reviewed in detail security arrangements, law and order and crime situation in the provincial metropolis.
The meeting which lasted more than two hours, was attended by Provincial Minister for Law, Rana Sanaullah Khan, Special Assistant to CM, Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Advisor Jehanzeb Barki, Members National and Provincial Assembly, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Acting IG Police, Commissioner and DCO Lahore and all SPs of Lahore.
The Chief Minister while appreciating the best arrangements made by police and administration on the occasion of Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Ali (RA), said that Martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA) has passed peacefully throughout the province and no untoward incident occurred anywhere, upon which police force and administration deserve congratulation.
Addressing the meeting, Muhamamd Shahbaz Sharif directed that police
should utilize all its energies for providing justice and relief to
the people and also deal with the oppressed persons politely visiting
the police stations for redressal of their grievances. He said that
latest technology should be benefitted for the eradication of crimes
and government will provide all necessary resources for this purpose.
He said that protection of life and property of the citizens is the
responsibility of police and it should create a sense of protection
among the citizens so that people could live peacefully.
The Chief Minister said that change in thana culture is priority of Punjab government and Lahore police should play role model for this purpose. Shahbaz Sharif said that he will again hold a meeting with officers of Lahore police in which police officers will submit an effective plan for elimination of street crimes. He said that we have to correct the situation collectively and march forward as a team. He said that police should utilize all its resources for the elimination of
criminal gangs and curbing the crimes. He said that the criminals,
dacoits and robbers should be hit hard so that people should take a
sigh of relief. Assembly members while, presenting their proposals
with regard to improving law and order situation and controlling
crimes, said that not only the grievances of the citizens can be
redressed by making the environment of police stations people-friendly but a number of problems would be solved automatically. They stressed upon strict implementation of ban on the use of mobile phones in jails. Chief Secretary Punjab said that there is a need of benefitting from modern technology for eradicating crimes, formation of specialized unit and bringing the intelligence network up to police station level. Acting IG Police said that better results can be yielded through best arrangements of police force and proper
utilization of resources. He said that police force is making all out
efforts for eliminating crimes, creating sense of protection among the people and providing justice to them.
