Rulers are wandering in the world with a begging bowl:Nawaz Sharif

Lahore:President Pakistan Muslim League-N, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, has said that it is unfortunate that despite passage of 65 years the ideals of the founder of the country, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah have not been achieved. He said that it is lamentable that presently the nation is plunged in darkness and poverty, unemployment, disease and backwardness which have darkened the future of the country. He said that the rulers are wandering about in the world with a begging bowl in their hand and the economy is being run on charity and loans. He said that Pakistan’s sovereignty is in danger and it is being accused of any catastrophe that happens anywhere in the world. He said that the skilled Pakistanis are disillusioned with the future of the country and have migrated to the other countries in thousands. He said that industrial sector has been ruined and a new scandal of corruption comes to fore almost daily. He said that constitution, democracy, judiciary and parliament are being put at stake to hide and save the money accumulated through corruption. He said that it is all the more deplorable as occurring in a country which was created for the purpose of supremacy of law.
He was addressing a function at Alhamra today in connection with the 65th Independence Day of Pakistan. Nawaz Sharif said that violation of constitution and trampling of democratic values are the main cause of the present state of the affairs in the country and this tendency not only disintegrated the country in the past but also weakened the foundations of the remaining Pakistan. He said that the desire by undemocratic forces to undermine the right of the masses to rule the country has not allowed the democratic institutions to flourish. However, Nawaz Sharif said that there is still hope for a better tomorrow provided the nation is determined enough to change the course of history. Nawaz Sharif said that PML-N is the party of Quaid-e-Azam and it has taken upon itself the responsibility to transform Pakistan in accordance with the vision of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam. He said that PML-N will not allow anyone to play with the future of the country and will bring the nation out of the darkness of despair and despondency. He said that PML-N leadership is committed to safeguard national sovereignty and integrity. Referring to the achievements of his government, Nawaz Sharif said that during his tenures mega development projects were started which included motorways, highways, new airports, seaports, modern fiber optic telecommunication system as well as programmes in other sectors due to which lakhs of people availed job opportunities. He said that the PML-N also has to its credit power projects like Ghazi Barotha and Chashma Nuclear Project and on top of it making Pakistan a nuclear power. He said that agreement of production of GF Thunder aircraft with the cooperation of China was also signed during his period.
While delineating his future priorities, Nawaz Sharif said that if given power, PML-N will make the country one of the 10 strongest economies of the world. He said that Pakistan has highly talented youth which comprise 65% population of the country and such economic policies will be evolved as could help utilize this asset effectively for the progress and development of the country. He said that PML-N has made 3Es; energy, economy and education as the most important element of its manifesto. He said that PML-N experts have devised a road map and work will immediately be started on this direction. He said that the circular debt is the basic cause of loadshedding which will be overcome within six months and the issue of loadshedding will be resolved to a great extent within two years. He said that shortage of power has paralyzed the economy and there is need to take immediate steps to tackle this problem. He disclosed that PML-N has also formulated a package of incentives for the promotion of investment so that the factories and mills which have closed down could be revived and the investors leaving the country could be brought back. He said that promotion of small industries is the priority of the PML-N as it can help eliminate unemployment. He said that Pakistan can earn huge foreign exchange through promotion of agriculture sector. He said that setting up of industries in rural areas can result in generation of job opportunities for the rural youth. He said that loans would be offered to the educated youth under self-employment scheme so that they could set up their own business and achieve economic self-sufficiency. He said that the PIA and Railways could be transformed into the best institutions of Asia. He said that strengthening of economy is the aim of PML-N. He said that Pakistan will be made a model of peace and harmony where the businessmen would be able to invest without any fear. He said that Pakistan is rich in natural resources and it would be made a tourist destination. He said that terrorism and extremism will be rooted out from the country and it will be made a haven of peace. He said that promotion of IT sector is the pivot of the economic agenda of PML-N.
Mian Nawaz Sharif said that it is a matter of satisfaction that due to the pro-active role of the opposition, civil society and media, positive changes are being witnessed in the society. He said that the concept of the rule of law is strengthening while media and civil society are also gaining power. He said that constitutional issues have been resolved unanimously and the selection of Chief Election Commissioner has been made unanimously first time in the history of country for the holding of free and fair elections. He said that it is time to look forward and bring about meaningful changes in the country.
