Lahore:Punjab Minister for Labour & Auqaf, Haji Ehsan-ud-Din Qureshi has said that ulemas have deep respect among the masses, therefore, they should communicate the people regarding administering of polio drops during current 3-day (16 July to 18 July) anti-polio campaign during which 17.3 million children up to five years of age will be administered anti polio drops all over the Punjab. He said that ulema can successfully execute the awareness campaign in mosques specially during prayer hours to the society. He also asked the labour department officials and social security doctors & paramedics to launch a comprehensive campaign with renewed determination against the menace of Polio in the current anti-Polio campaign. He said that has stressed the need of door-to-door & child-to-child coordination and involvement of lady health workers for the success of immunization programmes. He said that youth are the future of the nation and we have to save the nation from communicable and non-communicable diseases.
While talking to delegations of people, ulema, social security doctors & paramedics, Haji Ehsan-ud-Din Qureshi said that with the cooperation of all segments of society as well as the international donor organizations, polio will be completely wiped out from the country. He said that parents, teachers, elected representatives and Ulema have to play their effective role for complete eradication of polio from the country. He said that the government would facilitate the NGOs and private sector to join hand for the elimination of this menace from the country and to create awareness among the parents that anti-polio doze should be given to every child under 5 years of age and to teach them that repeated dozes to the children are safe.
